The Covid-19 virus quickly transformed into a pandemic that impacted the entire world, including Indonesia. As an effort to control and break the chain of spread of the virus, the government continues to distribute the Covid-19 vaccine to all provinces in Indonesia. For a smooth distribution process, Telkom built a management system called the Vaccine Distribution Management System or SMDV for use by Biofarma, a pharmaceutical SOE.
The presence of SMDV is one of the keys to success in distributing this vaccine, especially in the aspect of monitoring. There are more than 400 million vaccine doses that must be distributed to 17 thousand health facilities located in 514 districts. The existence of SMDV allows the quality and efficacy of the vaccine to be maintained and meet the standards during the distribution process.
SMDV Services to Optimize Covid-19 Vaccine Distribution
In order to support the government's efforts to carry out the distribution of the Covid-19 vaccine to all corners of the country, SMDV presents a variety of services, ranging from Track and Trace (TNT), Internet of Things (IoT), dashboards, command centers, cloud infrastructure, to managed services.
1. Track and Trace (TNT)
Track and Trace (TNT) services focus on Supply Chain Management (SCM). The system is able to track every vial of vaccine produced, recording delivery requests to the status of arrival of the vaccine at the destination. Not only that, but the system can also identify the authenticity of the distributed vaccines.
2. Internet of Things (IoT)
The Internet of Things (IoT) is a surveillance solution that will ensure proper delivery and storage of vaccines. In the delivery process, this supervision is carried out on the trucks and motors used to distribute the vaccine. In addition, supervision is also carried out on the storage area through a device placed in a cooling machine that specifically stores vaccines.
3. Dashboard
The dashboard is presented to facilitate the end-to-end monitoring process for vaccine distribution and is expected to be the basis for decision making and improvement of the vaccine distribution process in the future.
4. Command Center
The main role of the Command Center is to carry out the function of monitoring or supervising the vaccine distribution process so that the quality of the vaccine continues to occur during the delivery or distribution process.
5. Cloud Infrastructure
This cloud computing infrastructure has a major role as a support for the development of a Covid-19 vaccine distribution management system.
6. Managed Service
SMDV also presents solutions in the form of managed services for management in ensuring pharmaceutical companies can continue to operate in distributing the Covid-19 vaccine, using Track and Trace, IoT, Dashboard and other infrastructure incorporated in SMDV.
Development of SMDV Services for Vaccine Distribution
Existing services such as Track and Trace (TNT) must certainly be integrated with other systems, both internal and external systems from pharmaceutical companies, in this case Biofarma, a pharmaceutical SOE tasked with distributing the Covid-19 vaccine throughout Indonesia.
Along the way, the Track and Trace system will continue to be developed for vaccine distribution to more regions such as the outermost regions in Indonesia and other regions if needed.
SMDV is a technological innovation in the world's first Covid-19 vaccine distribution system and has proven its success. In the future, this system has the potential to be developed so that it can be used as a distribution system for other pharmaceutical products.
